Post Triangle or sawtooth signal in Low cost SAR

Dear Mr Charvat,

My name is Jose Almanza and I'm a master student in CICESE (Research center in Mexico).

I'm trying to make my own version of SAR based on the MIT course for the same. I'm using the matlab scripts that you created. So far I can use the radar for ranging and Doppler measurements but I got a few doubts about operating the SAR and scripts.

1. For SAR purposes, the tuning signal that modulates the VCO, is it a triangle signal of 20ms up-chirp and 20ms down-chirp? (So the sync signal has 40ms period as well). If I remove the downchirp, I would have a sawtooth signal, I'm not sure if this would work.

2. Does it matter the direction that the radar moves on measuring tape registering the range profiles? I mean from left to right or viceversa? I guess it would just show the image mirrored if I do it in the wrong sense.

Thanks for your help.
