I dropped by Lowes to pick up a piece of 12x12x1 board and took a side trip over to the ducting section. They had 8in ducting with a plug that would fit in one end. My understanding is that you get greater resolution with an increase in the size of the antenna. After I get my RADAR set working with the coffee cans, I intend to try the ducting.

You're bringing up a good point and sorry it has taken so long to reply.

My suggestion wrt the antenna is to stick to the same diameter can that was specified. This is important because the cantenna works by setting up a circular waveguide mode within the can, where the diameter of the can determines this mode.

The other critical dimension is the distance from the antenna feed probe to the back of the can.

Probe length is important too, but if you cut to dimensions indicated it will work.

wrt bigger apertures, you are right in that the larger the aperture the further it will go. My suggestion is to try using the coffee can radar feed to feed a satellite dish, that would provide a bigger aperture (one for receive, one for transmit).

Good luck! Be sure to post photos!

Good day Mr Charvat.

We couldn't find cans that has similar dimensions. The closest we could find:

Can length = 18cm
Can diameter = 11cm
Spacing from monopole wire to back wall = 3.5cm
Monopole wire length = 3cm
