Moses was also told ahead of time that Pharaoh would not let the people go at first, but finally after10 plagues fellon the Egyptians Pharaoh sent for Moses and told him to take the Israelites out of Egypt. Should I go and find one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you? she asked. Moreover the man Moses [was] very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.11:4 And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that [is] behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.11:8 And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.4:28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.4:29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:4:30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.4:31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.Chapter 55:1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.5:2 And Pharaoh said, Who [is] the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? Apparently Moses was ready to play the role of God to Pharaoh providing Aaron would serve as his prophet. In noting the flight to Midian the narrative says nothing of the difficulties involved. These [are] the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.19:7 And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.19:8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. Berean Standard Bible When he found an Egyptian taskmaster beating a Hebrew, probably to death, he could control his sense of justice no longer. After God raised Moses He took Moses to Heaven. His parents, Amram and Yocheved, were from the illustrious tribe of Levi. God gave Moses specific directions on what to do and say. I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.5:3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.5:4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? God told Moses to speak toa specific rockand He would send water, but Moses lost his temper with the people and struck the rock twice (Numbers 20). get you unto your burdens.5:5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now [are] many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.5:6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,5:7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.5:8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish [ought] thereof: for they [be] idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go [and] sacrifice to our God.5:9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.5:10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.5:11 Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.5:12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.5:13 And the taskmasters hasted [them], saying, Fulfil your works, [your] daily tasks, as when there was straw.5:14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, [and] demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?5:15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?5:16 There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants [are] beaten; but the fault [is] in thine own people.5:17 But he said, Ye [are] idle, [ye are] idle: therefore ye say, Let us go [and] do sacrifice to the LORD.5:18 Go therefore now, [and] work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.5:19 And the officers of the children of Israel did see [that] they [were] in evil [case], after it was said, Ye shall not minish [ought] from your bricks of your daily task.5:20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:5:21 And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.5:22 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou [so] evil entreated this people? After Moses completed his assignment of leading the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt, he returned to this same holy mountain, where God gave him the Ten Commandments. He climbed Mount Nebo and is allowed to look upon the Promised Land. When the princess opened it, she saw the baby. God had a much better plan for him. Along the way, God came without warning to kill Moses. Ramses II became king as a teenager and reigned for 67 years. Compare this to the 7 Last Plagues of Revelation that will not fall on God's people. Moses had abrother, Aaron, who was 3 years older and an older sister, Mariam. 23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel. He aspired to defeat the Hittites and control all of Syria, but in the fifth year of his reign Ramses walked into a Hittite trap laid for him at Kadesh, on the Orontes River in Syria. Moses tells God that he is not able to care for all the people alone. The little boy was crying, and she felt sorry for him. What did Moses do when he returned to Egypt? And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.19:10 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,19:11 And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.19:12 And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, [that ye] go [not] up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:19:13 There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether [it be] beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.19:14 And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.19:15 And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not at [your] wives.19:16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that [was] in the camp trembled.19:17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.19:18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.19:19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.19:20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses [up] to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.19:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.19:22 And let the priests also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them.19:23 And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it.19:24 And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.19:25 So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.Chapter 2020:1 And God spake all these words, saying,20:2 I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:20:10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:20:11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.20:13 Thou shalt not kill.20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.20:15 Thou shalt not steal.20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's.20:18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw [it], they removed, and stood afar off.20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.20:20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
